Comment: Königin Luise was a German mine laying ship that hit a mine and sank in 25.9.1941. It lies in open sea outside Helsinki in 50m depth. Before the WW2 the ship operated as a passenger and spa ship on the Hamburg-Amerika line (HAPAG). It was 95 meter long and converted to military use in 1939. In operation Barbarossa the ship had orders to lay mines to the Corbetha minefield between Porkkala and Naissaari island. When returning from a mission it hit Russian sea mine, exploded and sank immediately with a loss of 40 lives. The wreck is now in parts. The rear part separated just behind the bridge and lies upside down sticking out on the right side of the bridge. You need a permission from the Military Museum to dive there.
