My first dive on the diving club Kupla annual camp at Utö. Me and Camilla decided that we start easy from the west lagoon shore. There were also new wrist seals glued on Camilla’s dry suits that we needed to test. Pipsa came to our DM on the shore. First we tested that Camilla’s weights were OK. We actually needed to add some. Camilla had eventually 4 kg attached to a 15 liter steel tank, then on belt 6 kg. The suit did not leak in any way.
Then we headed down the underwater hill. Visibility was amazingly good, water was really clear. Lot of fishes seen on the way down to the sandy plateau at 17 meters. There we found a thermocline and water felt really cold. Shearwater was showing 9 degrees, so we headed uphill towards north reaching the cliff dropping from island. At 20 min turned back and swam south along the dropoff then up the hill back to shore. It was a nice simple dive and all equipment worked fine.
I did not have camera with me. I had bought a ne dive light just before the trip: Nanight Tech-2, that provides 4000 Lumens with 10 degree beam. The light worked fine and it was really bright. On this dive no light would have been necessary, but you could see nice colors nicely at deeper.
