Comments

Early in the morning we head to the wreck of Hindenburg. The plan was again to dive it twice.
This time we dived again as a triplet, me, Antti and Päpsä.
I had set up D12 tanks for trimix, had 49% deco stage and suit gas. And the Canon 7D.

This was a disaster, as I flooded my Canon 7D.
I had recharged the camera batter and copied pictures from the memory card the noght before, then assembled the camera set.

Now when we dived down the shot line to 35 m and reached the wreck, I tried to take a picture, but camera did not respond.
Then I noticed that water was flowing inside the housing and there was lot of water inside already.
I knew that the camera was already gone and it would be useless to even try saving it.
So I continued the dive with the team and we surfaced normally.
When I got back to Orbiit, I opended the housing and could only confirm that the camera and lens were full of water and deda forever.
I do not know why the housing leaked, perhaphs the dome port o-ring had failed somehow or was not propelry in place.
I have done hundreds of dives during 9 years with this housing without issues, so this was strange.
