2019-12-10 dive 10, Kuda Rah Thila
Tom skipped this dive. Also Sanne.
Last dive of the day to Kuda Rah Thila was then really fabulous. Even better than Fish Head. Loads of colorful corals and gigantic schools of fishes. Also very strong current, hence the corals and fishes. Very interesting coral formations, caverns and swim throughs. Took loads of pictures and more videos. The scratches on the lens unfortunately can be seen. On this dive there were also 3 blurry blots, that I can’t quite figure out. Maybe the wet side of the lens had some particles? Now looking at the pictures carefully, I noticed that the corners are soft and unfocused. This appears to be a design flaw in the lens. So apparently some shortcomings in this type of lens, that I did not notice before. But then, the conditions have never been this good to test it out for real.
The current was really strong and even Nick was low on air when I still had 120 bar at 40 min. The guide Nannu sent everyone else up, and we continued together. We went to the top of the small pinnackles and set up reef hooks. The current was really picking up. Watched current action for 5 min, then to the next small pinnacle. At 55 min Nannyu wanted to surfces, so we ascended to safety stop and back to dhoni.
Back at boat some cake and coffee. The plan was to depart to the local island Dhangethi and have evening barbeque there. Only me, Sanne, Tom and Lana went to the island village in advance at 17:00. We walked around the island, but there was not that much to see. Then walked to the beach were out BBQ was being set up. It was an OK BBQ, but no alcohol could be served as we were on a local island. No special program either, as on previous liveaboards there had been quite a lot of activities before. So we ate and then returned back to boat at 21. Many went to sleep early.
The plan for next day is:
• 06:45 wake-up
• 06:15 briefing, dive at 7th heaven
• 8:00 breakfast
• 09:30 whale shar search + dive
• 13:00 lunch
• 15:30 Kunavashi Kandu
• 18:30 happy hour
• 19:30 dinner
