Saturday 21st September 2019, did a day trip with M/V Deeptech operated by Ari Kapanen from Porkala Marin to 3 wreck sites outside of Porkkalaniemi peninsula. These were unidentified wooden shipwrecks dated between 1700...1850 at "secret" locations.
Cost of the trip was 65 EUR.
We left harbor at 10 AM and returned at 7 PM just before sunset. There were 12 divers onboard.
I took with me 2x12L tanks and 1x10L tanks filled by 32% Nitrox and one 7L stage 50%.
Also a camera set: Olympus TG-5 camera in PT-058 housing, AOI UWL-04 wide angle wet lens (160 degree FOV).
Attached to a tray with handles, 12" arms for 2x Nanight 4000 lumen video lights (120 degree beams).
I had lots of food with me.
Original plan was to dive:
1. Linkobben wreck
2. Sankbodan wreck
3. Jungfrugatan wreck
+ see seals
But in the morning the wind was picking up, so Ari decided we go to Sankbodan to see seals and dive the wreck there.
But seals were not there that day and we did not see any.
I did not have a buddy so Ari assgined me to dive with Jari and Minna. Minna decided to skip this dive, so I dived with Ari then.
The shot was not dropped right on the wreck site, so we had to search it for a while. There was a steep hill down to 18 m. It took us some 10 min to find the wreck which was t 22 m.
It was a large debirs field of wooden wreckage, the ship hull had broken long a go badly. Most of it in 22 m depth.
There were anchors at 16m, but we did not find them on our way up. launched SMB and returned to boat.
