Dive 1/8 of the Utö 2020 camp.
This year due to Coronavirus there was a lot of discussion if we could arrange the traditional Utö camp at all. Fortunately the corona situation in Finland was in good control by June, so camp was for go.
Before the camp I had fixed the suspender mounts of the dry suit. They had peeled off the suite, so I glued them back.
I also bought a new tent from Jysk as my old tents were quite worn out, this tent was only 75 EUR. I also bought a new air mattress for 10 EUR as the old ones wre leaking, and a new camp chair as old ones were all broken.
I had arrived to the camp on Saturday 2020-07-04 evening.
With me in the car were newbies Ekaterina Shardina and her husband Filipp.
The Opel Astra was packed full to every cubic-cm of the car. Definetly the car can fit only 2 divers comfortably but 3 is way too much. Filipp wasn't diving though, but the couple had lots of camping gear to compensate for that.
The first dive for me was then for the Sunday morning 10 AM departure using both boats. I was riding on Irmeli and Ukko was to be my buddy.
Weathre was quite rough, tall waves and hard wind. I did not mind but for some that was bit much. Getting the boats out of the lagoon and back was a challenge.
This year only the buoy to the bridge was there.
I did not bring my camera to this dive because bots were so full and rough weather.
Me and Ukko went down quite quickly.
We did a full tour arounf the wreck with no penetration. First along the right hand side to stern, around the rear decks and then back to bridge, the following the line to bow section, around the bow and back to bridge, full +40 min tour it was. Visibility was about 5 m.
Then on Irmeli back to our island to make lunch. The next dive was due 4 PM to Tukkiproomu.
