A full month since my last dive at Ladoga. I had simply been too buys with other things. Now I took this one weekend off to attend the yearly “Hangon Matalat” or “Hanko shallows” diving campl of my club Kupla. Also my other club Nousu was there but for 2 weeks, while Kupla camp was only for the weekend. I arrived to the Låglandet island already Friday evening and set up my tent and all diving gear ready to go. At the camp we had 16 divers and both out boats.
On Saturday morning both the Hinkki and Irmeli boats left the island at 9 AM, and we arrived to the “Keulakuvahylky” or “Bow figururehead wreck”. It was a 2 masted sailing ship from England and was called Osborn&Elisabeth, sank 1873 in a storm. There used to be a bow figurehead, but it is now rescued to the Wellamo maritime museum.
I dive as the first pair with Tuomas. Water was unusually cold, but so was the visibility very good as well. A nice and easy dive in sunny weather. I had taken my summer undersuit and it was quite OK despite water being a bit cold at 10 degC. Irmeli got full so it leaft earlier back to camp island. We followed with Hinkki, and everyone prepared lunch. I fill my D10 tanks for the afternoon dive.
