Saarenmaa diving trip 6-9 September 2018 of Kupla diving Club.
Dive #5 of the trip and the last dive.
This was immediately following the dive to HMS Myrtle. The community of +100 seal were living at the shallow area where we anchored our boat. You could see heads of curious seals popping up everywhere. We all went to water with scuba gear on to fins some seals to see. The way to get to see them closer was to approach them first slowly at the surface. Then make a visual contact. Once a seal got more curious, it would approach, and then we would both dive under water to look at each other. The seals were especially interested to play with our fins and SMB’s. We all managed to make a number of contacts with the seals and see them swim around us. I also managed to get some still photos and video.
After one hour we got back to the boat and headed back to harbor. Everyone was really happy about the diving with seals.
When we got back to Pidula Forell we had a late lunch. Then it was time to start unkitting the dive equipment as our diving was done.
At evening we had a barbeque party, with sauna and hot tubs.
The trip was a great success and we should definitely do this again.
