2020-10-11 dive to Gustaf Adolf on Hinkki boat.
I had organized this dive for the Kupla diving club as a P1 grade boat trip and was going to be the boat captain and dive marshal. Finally got 4 others to join on a sunny Sunday afternoon. There were me, Alex, Tuomas, Marcus, Paavo. We were scheduled to depart from pier at 13:00, and were almost in plan. I let Marcus and Alex do the boat steering and navigation so they could get practice. We decided to dive the Gustaf Adolf. On the way there the waves were almost 1 meter tall and coming from SE. It was withing the limits for the Hinkki boat. Marcus was navigating and he made a slight mistake in taking the correct bearing towards Grasjalboda rock, so we ended up a bit too much west of it. But we did get to the GA site at 13:15.

There was no longer the mooring buoy at the site, but a very small marker buoy. We decided to go anyway and attached Hinkki. Alex and Tuomas would go to water first with a plan of 45 min. Tuomas was the only one with a single tank. I would go then as a triplet with Marcus and Paavo. Before departure Tuomas had problems with his dry gloves, but we eventually sorted that out.

Alex and Tuomas went down at 13:28 and came up at 14:00, their dive time was 32 min. Alex reported which lines to follow at the bottom to the wreck.

After 5 minutes in boat, Tuomas complained that he felt bad, with shortness of breath and tickling in the fingers. I set him up to breath first aid Oxygen and lie down. Quickly assessing his situation I concluded that it probably was not DCI, but breathing Oxygen will probably make him feel better. As there was no emergency and all we could do meanwhile was to observe, I decided that our triplet go diving, while Alex would monitor Tuomas and signal us by banging boat if we should return immediately.

We went down to the wreck, I had my camera with me and tooks some pictures. The visibility was not great, maybe 5 meters and it was very dark. We did one round and our dive time was 41 min.

Back at the boat situation was good. Tuomas now felt totally OK after having breathed oxygen for a while. I concluded that the bad feeling was probably caused by too tight neck seal he had complained about, and maybe breathing too shallow and the excitement.

We then drove the boat back to harbour, stopping at Lauttasaari ST1 to fuel.

After the dive I had lots of water inside my dry suit, especially wet were the crotch area and right foot was filled with water. It was apparent that there was a serious leak in the suit.
When I got to Kuplakammio, I did a bubble test for the dry suit and noticed that the crotch seam was bubbling a lot. There was the apparent source for the leak.
