Evening after work trip with my diving club Kupla on our Hinkki boat.
Pekka was the skipper and did not dive as he took his 2 yo son with him.
We planned to dive a newly found wreck the Rysäkivi barge.

There is a buoy on the site.
Location 60° 06.259' N , 24° 51.023' E
The wreck was found 2020-05-09 so very recently. It appears to be a barge of the Imperial Russian Navy that sank June 1912 and was carrying a cargo of calcium. The barge had hit the nearby rock of Rysäkivi. There had been an attempt to recque it, but that failed and the barge sank to the bottom which is at 15 m depth.
The location is between two major shipping routes.
Originally we were going to have a full boat of divers, but there were many last moment cancellations and eventually only 5 divers. It was a sunny day, 20 deg-C, almost no wind and no big waves.
We left the harbor at 16:30 and arrived at the destination in nice weather within 30 min. Olli and Juhani were to dive first as a pair with 45 min plan. Following them was the triplel of me, Kimmo and Juho with CCR. We had 60 min plan.
We went down the buoy line, then followed the rop to the stern of the wreck. Across the strern there is an underwater cable. Then we dived on the right hand side to the bow and back along the left hand side. Visibility was pretty bad to due some sort of algae, only 2 meters, if even that. But it was pretty light still at 15 m. The bottom was rocky so not much silt from there. But the iron barge was covered with a lot of silt. The structure was still in pretty good shape. I did take a lot pictures but due to bad visibility they are not so fabulous. At a better visibility this would be nice to see. The deck is at 12 meters so the barge is about 2 meters above the bottom.
After 50 min of diving we ascended and did a safetly stop. At the stop me and Kimmo lost the ascent line and drifted 20 meters away from the buoy. After the dive we sailed back to Otaniemi and refueled the boat at ST1 Lauttasaari: 21 liters of diesel.
I had my latest camera rig: Olympus TG-6 in PT-058, AOI UWL-4 lens. BGNing tray, attached on each side a Nanight 400 lumen video light attached to tray with two pieces of BGNing 8" carbon fiber float arms.
