First dive of the Hanko camp.
I managed to get there only by Saturday afternoon, while most people had arrived already on Friday and some on Thursday.
I was picked to Hinkki boat from Hanko at 2 PM, and we went straight to dive. I had also my camping gear with me in one bag, the most minimal set of gear possible.
We dove the Finnbaltic barge, where I had been many times before. I dived with Eero and had also my camera with me. Visibility was 5 meters, so quite OK.
After the dive back to the camp island Låglandet, then very rapidly I set up my old Halti tent. Then to Hanko harbor where we had sauna, then pizza and a small bar tour. back to the camp island at 11 PM. Some people continued island party until 3 AM, but I went to sleed to my tent as I planned to do the morning dive.
On the same island there was also the camp of diving club Nousu.
There had been lot of bad luck this time, as before the camp we discoved a serious engine problem in Irmeli boat and that could not be taken to the camp. Then also problem with Hinkki boat, as the start motor of the diesel engine broek. Fortunately Hinkki was fixed in record time and was functional by Friday afternoon.
Then there was the Coltri compressor issue. The petrol engine was discovered to have a broken valve cover gasket and we could not get it fixed to the camp.
There were going to be so many people to the camp that we couldn't possiblty manage with the old Capitano compressor alone.
The backup plan was to take the Coltri compressor to Antti's house at Hanko mainland and use it by electical engine, transport empty tanks by boat to Antti's house and fill up tanks there.
Before the camp I noticed I had lost the charging adapter cable to the Nanight Tech 2 diving light. Lost somewhere in Utö?
So I could no longer charge the light normally. I had to hack up some wires to connect the charger.
When doing some online research to find out how to get a new charging cable, I discovered that my light had the old connectors and that Nanight had migrated to XT30 connectors, that were in my video lights. So I decided to convert my light also to XT30, and ordered connectors for that. They arrived by mail next week and I soldered XT30 connectors to replace the obsolete Molex.
I also noticed that Nanight was now selling the newest lights with a charge port and that you could send your older lights to be upgraded to have charge ports.
The old practice is to roll open the battery canister and connect charger to internal connectors. With the waterproof charge port you just open the outer shell connector to connect charger, which is a lot more convenient. I am going to send the lights to upgrade end of diving season for sure.
